Development and Submission Process

Your submission to the Emerging Technologies Team will help us determine if your new technology or engagement approach should be explored for inclusion in the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program. We review concepts to determine potential for energy savings, cost-effectiveness and broad market applicability. Types of concepts include new technologies, program designs or outreach strategies. These concepts could be explored and tested through a combination of several methods:

  • Primary research
  • Savings measurement
  • Technology installation
  • Customer engagement

If proper documentation to support energy-savings claims is not available, the team may request additional information.

Step 1: Plan Your Concept

When organizing your concept in a proposal, you should utilize market research and knowledge of current ComEd energy efficiency offerings to understand how your concept could fit into the larger ComEd Energy Efficiency Program. Additionally, consider the methods by which you would like to test or explore your concept, and how those methods might fit together in phases or stage gates of implementation.
