Partner: Sentient Energy
This pilot will test new grid-side hardware and software solutions that can enhance ComEd’s Voltage Optimization efforts and increase customer energy savings.
This pilot project aims to install and test new technology from grid technology company Sentient (formerly Varentec) to evaluate potential improvement of energy savings for ComEd customers. These devices are deployed in a strategic manner to optimize distribution grid voltage, resulting in increased energy savings at feeder lines serving a group of customers. This pilot will validate use of this new Voltage Optimization (VO) technology to enhance the energy savings for the customer complementary to the existing VO solutions already in use on ComEd’s grid. The pilot will impact a diverse set of customers served by three identified feeders around the Chicago South and Crystal Lake areas.
